PROGRESSIONS
1. We can add a time limit (ie 10 seconds) if the defending team are struggling to win the ball which forces the attacking team to feel pressure.
REGRESSION
1. If this is too difficult, we can reduce the 4v2 into a 4v1 and take away the time limit so we can ensure the players are not under too much pressure, forcing unnecessary mistakes.

CHALLENGES/TARGETS
Attacking team - set up in the 4-diamond shape. An extra point can be gained when the pivot player transfers the ball with the use of his body shape and use of turning with the ball mechanics successfully over the other side. Can we be confident and encourage our teammates to turn and play forward?
Defending out of possession - can we block the central passes? And can close the nearest player down with the ball?
TARGETS- Use the pivot player to break the defensive line in the 4v2? Can you man-mark the pivot player? Can defending players come together to shorten the distances between them? Can the attacking team force central to get as many double points?
Defenders - can you communicate to protect central zones and the force players in possession away from the higher earning routes.
INDIVIDUAL TARGETS -
Attackers - how can attackers find that killer switching pass and can there body shape be useful creating passing angles?
Defenders - Can you quickly apply pressure when inside the attacking box? When defending the central zone can they be compact (3-4 metres apart)? If you can’t close the nearest person down, how can you support your teammate to apply pressure and cut out passing lanes?

Area size:
The practical layout remains the same.
Timings:
10 minutes (2x 4 minute blocks, with 2 minute rest period in between)
Setup:
The players begin in a 4v4 +4, with one team starting on the outside of the pitch. The other teams of four are in the middle. The team in possession must work the ball to the players on the outside of the pitch. If you successfully switch the play, you gain a point. If you win possession, your team is able to utilise the players on the outside.

Switching Play, Attacking & Defending Transition (20 mins)
Set up:
Can the attacking teams switch the play from one side to the other? Attacking teams must stay in their halves. Defending team can defend anywhere. If the defending team wins possession, the ball is restarted from the coach
The Coach plays ball into attacking team of 4 players. One of the defending team players enter the box to form a 4v1 scenario. The Attacking team set up in a 4-diamond shape to resemble positions on the pitch gk/cb wingers/wide forwards and central pivot player. Theo aim is to look to pass the ball around within the 4v1 box with the use of the passing mechanics and playing with the open body shape, receiving on the back foot. Their goal is to make the switch over to the other attacking box and if successful, your coloured team wins a point. When the attacking team transfers the ball over, one new defender enters the opposite 4v1 box. This is where we start to form the transitional moment between the defensive players taking their responsibilities working as a 1 inside the attacking box, or as a group inside the central zone (Player+1). Their focus is to close the gaps and shif over to stop the switch of play. To aid the players’ understanding of the game, we can use 4x 2 minute blocks. This allows rotation between the 3 coloured teams, and rest periods.
