Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): First Touch - Session 3

1st Touch - Skill Intro (10 mins)

Player A calls player B that they are going to pass to them. On this signal player C runs to one of the two red markers. Player B must scan to see which side player C is taking up position on then adjusts the body to receive the ball on the back foot to pass to player C. Player C takes a first touch then passes to the player in A position. Once player C has completed that pass they take up position at A, B takes up position at C and A takes up position at B.

1st Touch Skill Training (25 mins)

Two teams of 6. Field divided into thirds.

Each team has a ball server (or keeper). This player is only there to deliver the ball to their defenders and must not be active in any other way. Each team is allowed two of their players in their own defensive and middle thirds when they are defending.

Game starts with ball server delivering the ball into their defensive third to one of their team mates. In order to play the ball into the middle third the ball receiver must take their first touch facing forwards. If they cannot do face forwards with their first touch they play the ball back to one of their team mates in that third. Once a ball is successfully played into the next third the player who passed the ball can run into the next third to support their other two players. This goes for the middle third to the attacking third too. As soon as your team loses the ball though that player must drop back into their respective third. Teams can play the ball back to another third at any time.
