Setup: As per diagram
Aim: Players to improve weight of pass (short & long)
How:
- Two balls moving at the same time. One starts from A and one starts from D
- First pass is played out from A, with a long pass to C
- C bounces the ball inside to B, who shows for the pass (2 touches to start), B returns ball to C, who continues run to then play pass into D
- Rotation A-B-C-D

- Ready to move, on toes weight moving in direction of travel
- Correct passing technique, inside of foot
- Correct weight of pass - short/long
- Scan shoulders before receiving
- Body shape to receive on back foot
- One touch to combine

Setup: Grid 10mx10m, 4 v 1, 1 ball per grid, spare balls available on side
Aim: Team on outside of grid to keep possession, passing and recieving, player on inside tries to cut off pass
How:
- 4v1
- Team in possession have 4 players on the outside of the square, with 1 defender inside the square
- Team in possession score by making 5 passes and if defender wins the ball back then they must dribble out of the square for a point.
- Play for 2 minutes and then rotate defender. Repeat so all players defend.
Progression: Add another defender inside grid, make grid bigger or smaller dependent on success. Add attacker and defender to inside of grid.

Setup: Grid 15mx15m. 2 Teams 4v3+1, 1 ball per grid (spares on the side).
Aim: Team on outside of grid to keep possession, passing and recieving, Defending team on inside tries to cut off pass
How:
- 4v3+1
- Team in possession have 4 players on the outside of the square and defending team have 3 players inside the square
- Extra attacking player also plays inside the square and can be limited to the amount of touches they can take
- Team in possession score by making 5 passes and if defending team win the ball back then they must try and dribble out of the square for a point.
- Play for 4 minutes and then rest for 1 minute. Repeat x4

- Weight & speed of pass
- Head up
- Middle player always trying to play inside the triangle of defenders
- Constantly scanning shoulders looking for passing options and defenders
- Angles and distance of support
- Pass to the back foot or open side
- Move the ball to move the defenders
- Communication ONE, TURN, SWITCH

Setup: As above field split into 3 Zones with goals. 2 teams - 7v7 with GKs positions as above.
Aim:
- To play out from the back, progress into the final third finish with shot on goal.
How: Start with Yellow GK, play ball out to either defender, can we keep possession and play a forward pass into middle third and then into final third and finish with shot on goal. All defenders are passive to begin with. Players must remain in their zone. Alternate start from either end.
Progressions reduce touches on ball in each zone, defenders become active (if they win the ball can they score within 30secs)
Coaching points
- Can we start in wide positions
- Can we move to space to provide an option
- Can you move defenders to create space behind them
- When to play out fast?
- When to try and retain the ball, play back to keeper, when to drive/pass forward

Setup: Grid 6m x 6m
Organisation
- One player in the middle for a 1 minute period
- Each player on the outside has a bib in their right and left hand (2 different colours)
- The player in the middle starts facing the player who has the ball. they must SCAN to see what bib the player directly behind them holds up. This is the direction they pass the ball e.g. player holds up the bib in their right hand then you pass to the player on the right etc.
- Repeat from new position
Progression
- Pass in the direction opposite to the bib e.g. Player holds up bib in right hand then pass to the left
Coaching points
- Be ready to recieve on toes
- Scan both shoulders
- Open your body to receive on your back foot
- Good first touch
- Correct passing technique
- Challenge yourself to play with one touch (10's & 11's)
