Set Up: 30 x 35 Area. 2 Target players at each end (4 total) with 2 v 2 inside the area. 8 players progressing to 10 player.
Instructions: Play starts with a service into one of the two attackers who are playing in the shadow of the 2 defenders (Between Lines). Targe player must identify who of his two options to play to. Defenders are fully active in playing a screen to deny service into either 2 players inside the area. Coach, encourage the defenders to play closer to the Target players on the ball to create the space between the lines. Once the pass is rotated into the other side successfully the players in the middle switch roles from attackers to defenders. Make this a fully active game, players looking to receive must play in the shadow of the defeders. (playing between lines) dance, don't fight or allow the defender to see you/feel you.
Progression: Introduce the Nets with GK's and wingers who must stay outside. Play starts with the goalie who must play into the two closest players. In this progression, when the players in the middle (1&2) receive the pass from "A or B", "C & D" become active defenders who can now close down the pace and play a 4 v 2 as the wingers join the attack. In the attack they have 5 seconds to score. Players must be using both feet and receiving pass on the back foot as taught in previous exercises. Players "A & B" or "C & D" can play into the wingers if the option isn't available through the middle.
Progression: Add 2 more players into the middle third of the field, 1 player for each team to make it 3v3 in midfield 1/3.
Progression: 8 v 8 with field split into 3. Condition within each zone, Defending 1/3, three touches for the defending team. Midfield can't progress forward unless they turn or play back so 2 touch condition. As youy've progressed into this stage make sure your field size is appropriate. Put 1 team in a 3-3-1 formation and the other in a 2-3-2 formation. Players can switch zones so striker can drop into midfield third to overload.

Set Up: 3v2+2 Targets Grid is 15x12.
Objective: 1 Target player on each end are trying to play ball to the team of 3 in the middle who must then attempt to play forward to opposite target. Once the target player has passed the ball into the 3 players in the grid, ball can not go back to target (encourage forward play). If the defending 2 win possession of the ball they must look to combine 3 passes or play a pass into either target player. If defending team are successful in winning possession by intercepting/winning and playing into target they switch roles with who ever they stole or lost possession of the ball in attack. If ball is played out of bounds (player who played ball out or miscontrolled out of bounds) becomes a defender.
Coaching Points: Technical: Quality of pass (pace, weight, accuracy, range, pro-active, combination) Quality first touch (personal space, positive, safe side) Shielding, Turning. Movement, Support to create space or to be an option. Tactical: Purposeful movement,Timing of movement, Angle of support, distance of support, Create space forself, teammates, width, depth, play between lines and in shadows.

Set Up: Field Dimension: 60 x 40. Formation: 1-2-3-2. Field is set up as per diagram (3 zones) so that focus can be put on various parts of the field.
Instructions: Ball starts with GK playing into one of their players in the defensive zone. Team in possession are looking to combine and play into midfield zone. Seeking Positive play (look to play forward (attacking minded) "3D football", "Around, Through, Over". If ball goes out of play, we re-start from the GK (Coach selects which team re-starts).
A) Can Neutral Wide players get wide and High (Green)
B) Look to gain an overload in the central zone when possible to make it easier to play through that zone.
C) Look to get players forward into final zone so that your team gets themselves in good scoring positions.
Technical: Passing- Short/ Weight/ Angle/ 1/2,1 or 2 touch, Proactive passing (safe/leading)
Movement to receive- Short/ Long body shape to receive. 1st touch various parts of the foot, running with the ball/ Dribbling 1v1. Coordination, timing of movement, 1 off the front, 2 in behind.
Clever Runs- "Creating space for yourself, for others and breaking lines" Stay onside, crossing, shooting
Tactical: Decision Making, Problem solving, positive attitude, "Vision & Awareness & Anticipation"-Teammates/opponents/space (Making the most of space) Support (forward momentum),

Shielding, coming off at angle to receive, turning, jumping
