Description

To improve players technical skills, control on the ball and breaking opposite team lines. Players should consider whereas or not the switch is on and may instead look to retain possession or offer more than one option to move the ball from one side of the pitch to the other.

Control Technical Practice 20 minutes.

Organisation:

  12 Players.4 teams x 3 players.2 working areas 20x20 metres.

   3 players pass the ball over the net . They are allowed only one bounce in their half.

   Competition between teams first team win 15 points win the game.

Progression:

Swap teams, limit time or bounces in teams own area.

Coaching points:

Get in line with ball.

Eye on the ball.

Organisation:

2 Teams of 6 players + 1 Target player (Black bib) Blue v Yellow.

We play in area 50x30 metres split into 3 equal zones.

2 Blue and 2 Yellow players are lock into each zone.

Players in possession pass the ball from zone to zone and try to find the space between opposite defensive lines.

Progression:

Both teams play normal games rules.

Change number of players in each zone (add more players).

Add target player (neutral player) to create overloads and play with the team in possession.

Coaching points:

Move to meet the ball and approach it half turned in the central positions to receive.

Give the players freedom of decision making to break opposite lines. Question: Why players movement help us to breaking opposite defending block.

Link the players in different zones. Question: What help us to be better in possession?

Organisation:

9v9 +Goalkeepers in area 60x40m, split in different zones.

Players are allowed to play free with normal rules games.

Progression:

Add offside rules.

Primary players:

N:9 striker to drop deep and create passing options in the final third.

N:7 and N:11 explore the space between Midfield and Defensive line in opposite half.

Secondary players:

N:5,N:6,N:8 win the ball and link with primary players with forward pass between lines.

Must get:

Exploit opponent defence weak area when we find the way to play between lines .

Should get:

Link Defenders, Midfielders and Forwards in possession of the ball with vertical passes.

Could get:

Primary players take the right decision in the opposite half to link with Secondary players.

Unit Challenges:

Think about how the team can stretch the pitch and create the space to make forward  pass,

Individual Challenges:

N:9 Decision about whether it is better to drop deep or explore the space behind defenders to receive forward pass.
