Directional Possession: 1-2 Touch Combination (15 mins)

Directional Possession (15 mins)

  • Brining out the rotations and bounce passes now into creating goal scoring opportunities.
  • Players will ultimately dictate the play as they look to play on minimal touches.
  • The one shown in the diagram is an idea for them to play but are other variations involving potentially a switch.

Coaching Points

  • Decision making is key here so scanning and noticing triggers to anticipate the play.
  • Timing of the runs and movement into space.
  • Opposite full back to the attacking one tucking into the central area. Creating a base diamond.
  • As one CM drops the other looks to push high with the attack.
  • Opposite winger attacking on the back post.
Co-Coach
  • To work with the back 4. How they shuffle and screen.
  • The defenders looking to intercept not tackle.
  • FB can engage winger to shadow press.
  • Opposite FB tucking in to defend the back post area.
  • Make it hard for us to find space in the box centrally.
  • Defence can score in mini goals if win he ball or carry ball over white line.
