Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): 2v2 + Neutral Player with Goalkeeper

Set Up:

• Set up a small pitch with one goal and one goalkeeper. Divide the remaining players into 2 teams of 2.
• A neutral player joins the attacking team, making it 3v2 for the team in possession.

Organisation:

• Scoring Rule: No goals can be scored inside the six-yard box. Shots must be taken from outside the box.
• Ball Clearance Rule: When the defending team wins the ball, they must clear the ball by passing it outside the box (across the horizontal line of the penalty area) before starting their attack.
• Neutral Player Rule: If the neutral player scores, it counts as two goals.
• Rotate between the two teams and the neutral player after each round.

Coaching Points:

• Emphasize quick ball circulation, using the neutral player to create overloads.
• Encourage defensive players to work as a unit and anticipate attacks.
• Goalkeeper focus: stay alert to shots from outside the box and direct the defense.
