Working on receiving the ball and taking a touch into the direction of the next pass, repetition is vital to get familiar to these passing lanes.
Balls down the line to be on the ground and then lofted, can always move goals to create inside passing lanes also.

Forward Passing For Fullbacks (15 mins)
Method:
• Full-back must try play forward passes down the line.
• Diagram 1 shows a goal about 35 metres from the mannequin at which the player receives possession from the coach. A second mannequin is placed in the line of the pass to the goal.
• Coach plays a pass to the player, who receives and with their second touch tries to score in the target goal.
• The ball cannot go above head height. The player should try and curl the ball into the goal.
• Diagram 2 shows a goal about 40 metres fromthe mannequin. Two mannequins are placed about 5 metres from the goal.
• The coach plays a pass to the player, who receives and with their second touch tries to score in the goal. The player should identify that they must lift the ball over the mannequins in order to score
• Use medium size goals to allow realistic passing lanes, to progress it use smaller goals.
Coaching Points:
TECHNICAL
FIRST TOUCH
• Players should be encouraged to move the ball with their first touch in a way that sets themselves for the next pass.
• Players need to be able to move the ball with their first touch and not kill it dead. This will ensure they can move on to the ball and strike it over distance with their second touch.
CURVED PASSING
• Players should be encouraged to have the ball outside the line of their body.
• When they are striking through the ball, they should attempt to curve the ball by wrapping their foot around the outside of the ball to make it spin.
• Players should be encouraged to play this pass with pace, as this is a pass that can release players into the channel in games.
LOFTED PASSING
• Players should be encouraged to strike the underneath of the ball.
• Their hips should be positioned to allow them to strike under the ball with a slightly angled approach to it.
• They should follow straight through with their kicking leg, in order to get a straight direction on the ball without any curve.
