Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Passing (Start Time: 2017-05-09 13:50:00)

Warm Up (20 mins)

Organization:

Instructions:

Half of the players start in the middle with a ball. The other half are spread out around the outside of the field. White must find a Player on the outside and pass to them, taking their place. The new Player (Green) must dribble into the box and find another outside player to pass to. Continue.

Coaching Points:

Ankle locked

Heel down, toe up

Clean strike with inside of foot

Body faces target, follow through

Activity 1: Pass and Receive (15 mins)

Instructions:

Set up 2 different colored cones 3 yards apart. Line up a couple of players 5 yards away on a seperate cone. 1 player stands between the colored cones. The first person in line passes to the Player between the cones and calls a color. The player must receive the ball with one touch taking it towards (around the outside of) that color cone. They then dribble to the back of the line, the passer takes their place.

Can be progressed to opposite colors, and/or competition - first line to make 10 passes.

Coaching Points

Check in and out. It is important that the receiving player has enough space to be able to guide the ball around the cone with one touch - the angle must be right. If they are standing directly between the cones or too close to the, then it will fail. Have them back up.

Pass and Receive with inside of the foot.
