Football Problem:
We dont position ourselves quick enough to put immediate pressure on the opposition when they are playing out from the back
Session Objective:
Increase speed of positional play in the top third to put immediate pressure on the ball carrier to make their play predictable focusing on the roles of the 7,11,9,10 & 8
Organisation: Passing practice.
set up as shown 5v2 with the red maintaing posession. if a red player makes an error they become the defender and swap with the other player to amaintain 5v2
Progression:
No BP player can receive the ball in the same spot
Limit touches
Team Task:
Red move in the grid to ensure there are passing lanes and always two options
Blue team to move collectively and try to shut down the ball carrier to and force the direction of play. to do this one must press the ball carrier whist the other tries to shut down the passing lanes
Player Tasks:
Communication, can the blue team shut down the passing lanes effectively and dictate the play of the red team.
Coaches Cues:
Body position of players receiving a pass from red team. creating space by movement of the red team Communication of blue team and are they understanding where they are forcing the play to go with their positioning

Session Objective
Increase speed of positional play in the top third to put immediate pressure on the ball carrier to make their play predictable focusing on the roles of the 7,11,9,10 & 8
Organisation:
set up as shown. 4 V 2 in each grid and the middle zone having two players.
Rules
Blue to maintain posession and try to pass from one grid to the next
Red team must work together in an end zone with one pressing the ball and the other shutting off passing lanes and get them in an area where they have only one option forcing the play to become predictable
each team receives a point if they transfer from one grid to the next.
rotate players every 7 minutes
Progression:
limit touches of team in BP
when you play the ball to the other grid you move into that grid swapping with one of your players
Team Task:
Red to work together to shut down space and options. Good communication from the central pair is key
Blue team do not let the ball stop. create space and movement off the ball after each pass to stretch the defensive team
Player Tasks
Communicate to each other in a way that helps the defender & attacker perform their task.
Deny opposition time and space to settle on the ball
Coaches Cues
Have the red team made the play predictable so the middle players can intercept the forward pass
defender movement when the ball is entering the grid and are they in position to cut of opptions straight away

Session Objective
Increase speed of positional play in the top third to put immediate pressure on the ball carrier to make their play predictable focusing on the roles of the 7,11,9,10 & 8
Organisation:
Field and players set up as shown. Field width reduced to allow the game to be more compact. 6V6 with a GK and Joker
Rules
reds are to stop the blue team from playing out and attempt to push the blue team to one side of the feild which will allow us to get numbers in a tight area and pinch the ball.
Reds need to try and score when they win the ball within 7 seconds
Blue need to create as much movement as possible to try and make the defense disorganised.
Blue team to progress the ball into one of the small goals to get a point
The Joker is with the team in BP and will play as a 10 for blue and be a target man, and a 3 for the red team when they win posession
Progression:
Allow 7 11 red and 2 5 blue outside the grid to add width and stretch the defence.
Limit touches when playing out to speed play up
Team Task
Blue to play out from the back ensuring that they always have 3 options. When they lose the ball they are to try and prevent forward passes through the middle and stay in a structured 4 2 formation.
Red to try and win ball by positioning themselves to make play predictable 9 to get between the 3&4 to shut off a switch of play 7, 11 red to press on their 2 and 5 and the tean to press the ball. When they win the ball they must move off the ball constantly to get into passing channels and shoot on goal within 7 seconds
Player Tasks
REDS: Position yourself when they are playing out from the back as stated in team tasks. Maintain good structure and keep communicating and coach the player in front of you.
Blues: Stay compact to win the ball when reds gain posession and create as many passing options as possible when playing out from the back. 6 & 8 to ensure one is high and one is low and the Joker must play high and be a target as often as possible
Coaches Cues
When ball is played from one side of the feild to the other can the red team maintain shape. Are the red team communicating effectively to ensure they are staying compact and effectively and predictably pushing the play wide
does the blue team have movement off the ball and finding space to try and disrupt the red teams structure. Are they transitioning into BPO posissions quick enough to win the ball back asap
