Progressions:
1. Add a holding midfielder to the defending team
We now play a 6v5 with a holding midfielder able to disrupt / block the runs of the two central players and / or close down an inverted winger cutting inside
2. Allow a third player to attack centrally
We now play a 7v5 allowing a third player to join in the attack. This should allow two central players to attack the goal leaving the third to 'lock the box' in a Fabregas style role.
3. Introduce a second goal
7v7 game using the wide players as neutral so both teams can use them. This also allows lots of repetition for the wide players.

Aims: to improve the understanding and performance of attacking from wide areas
6 attackers v 4 defenders (another 4 defenders resting behind goal. Rotate every five attacks)
Conventional Wingers
Two central players begin the pratice by passing the ball to a winger, who then delivers a cross.
Key Points:
Tempo of passing - can we get it into the winger quickly and accurately?
Receiving the ball - first touch in front to enable cross
Type of cross
Opposite winger attacking the back post
Two central players attacking front post and middle of goal
Full back overlapping or underlapping
