Screen 1 (15 mins)

Structure: 

  • Players in two groups 
  • Between 18 box and halfway line
  • Jog for 3-4 min to increase blood flow to working muscles
  • Players perform dynamic stretches of all major muscle groups and increase mobility
Organisation:
  • Players perform more challenging dynamic movements over hurdles

Sideway-facing hurdles/Forward-facing hurdles/Backwards

  • Adduction over hurdles into rotation
  • Adduction over hurdles into a sidestep
  • Adduction and abduction over hurdles combined
  • (Forward facing) Straight-leg abduction (both legs) into squat
  • Hurdle-step hamstring raise into hop
  • (Backwards - back to hurdles) Abduction into diagonal rotation
Coaching Points:
  • Perform movements slowly, initially, to ensure control and correct technique
  • Maintain upright position to avoid "collapsing" from core

Progression:

  • Increase both range and speed of movement
