Football/Soccer Session (Difficult): Shooting/ Finishing

Warm-up/ Blocked (10 mins)

10 Minutes - Blocked.

12 Players, split into 2 teams then split again into 4 groups of 3 players.

What to do;

- 1 group of 3 players each have their own goal.

- Player 1 passes the ball into player 2, player 2 must control the ball and lay it into the path of player 3.

- After player one has made their pass, they shuffle across into the goals to become a goalkeeper for the oncoming shot and the pass must be a side foot pass.

- Once the ball has reached player 3, the player must take a touch to move the ball out of their feet and into a suitable shooting position.

- After player 3 has a shot, they move into the position that player 1 had just been. (Rotating roles and postions after each shot on goal).

- The player that is going to be shooting MUST take a touch to move the ball before they can shoot.

- Allow players to use any form of shooting, Unless specified. (E.G. Side foot finish/finesse, Driven/ laces, Volleys, Inside/Outside of foot).

Progression.

- Players can now pass the ball in anyway they would like. (Side-foot, Chip, Driven).

- Allow players to Strike the ball first time if they wish.

Equipment;

- 4 Smaller sized goals.

- 12 bibs (2 colours, 6 of each).

- 16 Cones.

- 6 flat discs.

Random/ Game (10 mins)

In their 2 teams, standing within their own half player must try to score in the oppositions goal by using one of the techniques practices earlier in the session.

Player can defend their goal, however only 1 player can use their hands. This can be any player providing they call it (E.G. "Jack is in Goal").

Players can be creative with the ball in their half, using different ways to set-up other players to shoot.

To score points player simply need to score in the oppositions goal.

The same player can not shoot twice in a row, another player on their team must shoot before they can shoot again.
