6.10pm - 6.25pm (Max)
Warm up - Pressing - Cover - Balance
Set up;
Set up a zone inside a squared off area with two goals positioned at either end.
Divide the players into 3 teams - 1 team inside the circle and 2 outside.
Objective;
Players on the outside to work together to attempt to pass the ball through the defending players to a team mate on the outside. If they do so they take a point off the defending team. Players on the outside must not enter the circle.
Players in the circle (the defending team) must try to not allow any passes through them and to screen and intercept attempted passes. When the team intercept the ball they are unlocked out of the circle and combine to score in either goals. This is worth 3 points.
The goals represent a quick transition and a successful pass to a wide fullback or the #7 or #11
Balls supplied around the side. The team has several attempts to penetrate to score. When the ball goes out of play or intercepted and scored against then a new ball is used. Once all footballs are used then the teams rotate.
Rule - Grass skimmers only - no high balls. Once the ball is intercepted all players unlocked and players now in possession can score in the 2 goals provided.

I take the OOP team, back 4 and 4, 8 & 10
Using the defensive third with two goals that represent the #7 and #11 for the OOP team.
Play starts from the the Red #4 who plays the ball into the feet of the player thats in best position to receive.
Let the players play for 5 minutes to see what they're doing and what they know from previous sessions.
If the ball goes out of play for a Goal Kick or a goal is scored then play starts again from the Red 4, 2 or 3. Have plenty of footballs scattered around.
If the ball goes out for throw in then play to continue with throwing the ball in as per game.

1st Coaching Point
Opponents #4 or #8 plays the ball into the feet of the #11
Players to slide across and screen as a unit
Triggers to move/press
Opponents #4 or #8 line up to pass wide, they look, set their feet and shoulder to pass.
#8 that presses must be quick to get to the play receiving the ball. They must not over commit themselves and allow the opponent #11 to cut in on the inside and play between #8 and #4
Delay, Deny and Dictate the player on the ball and try and force the play back to opponents goal

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
2nd Coaching Point
Opponents #4 or #8 plays the ball into the feet of the #11
#3 might be reluctant to leave the opponents #7
Leave the player but recognise and know they're there. Stay with the CB and unit but open body shape to watch their movement. Have a 180 view

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
3rd Coaching Point
Opponents #4 plays the ball into the feet of the #11 and then returns the play into the feet of the opponents #8
Coaching Point, Don't charge out to open up space in between holding midfielders and the back 4. Look to delay whilst the back 4 edge out. Joe and Martim nice and vocal.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
4th Coaching Point
Switch of play
Opponents switch the ball from their #11 to their #7
#3 now presses, why? because the #3 will get there quicker and can delay the play.
Now the #4 slots into the back line and the #8 slides across

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
5th Coaching Point
#4 and #8 have been split
Back 4 hold their positions and stay solid and compact whilst #4 and #8 recover, one player gets behind the ball and the other back tackles.
If the opponents #9 has too much space and can turn, our #5 or #6 must come out to engage the player with the FB tucking in to provide cover and balance.
Can the back line make the opponents #9 to play backwards to their own goal?

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
6th Coaching Point
#4 and #8 have been split, The opponents #9 has managed to turn on the ball and play in behind our back line.
Now we play man or man, players pick up a player and mark, and one player looks to block the hole to stop any low driven crosses across the 6 yard box.
Further Notes
If numbers allow have a #9 always staying high and mirror the ball so we know where our #9 is when emergency defending. Can the #9 hold the ball up and play into the feet of the advancing #8, #2 and #3?
In transition, can we play out? can we break the press? Can we get up the pitch as quick as possible?
Recovery runs are a sprint and our forward support play are sprints
No time zone - No shots at goal - Delay - stay disciplined and keep shape - Stay patient - #9 stays high to give the opponents a threat and prevent opponents CBs coming to far forward.
Team in possession attacking the final third. Always provide width with the #7 and #11, Length with the #9 and depth with the #4
Attack in the wide areas,
