(5-10 minutes)
Quick introduction to transition in play (attack to defense/defense to attack)
Key Factors
- 9 yellows, 9 reds: played in the centre circle of the pitch
- 1 ball, possession based element
- Ball to be recycled from one side to the other, either through the midfield or directly with a floor pass.
- If attacking team is successful, the team on the outside who receive the successful pass then enter the middle. Defending team do not switch out.
- If ball breaks down then coach plays to the defending team in the middle to try and score.
Focuses on transition from attack to defense, as well as reorganising when the line is broken (a goal is scored).
At the end, middle players put on green bibs for next practice.

(10 minutes)
Key Factors
- Two pitches originally (change to one halfway through but at first get players working and getting touches on the ball by reducing numbers, as 18 players will mean less touches of the ball)
- Areas setup by eye, but not too big (30x20?)
- Each area has 3 yellow, 3 green and 3 red.
- A possession game where 2 teams keep the ball against the other. If that team wins the ball the team that loses possession becomes the defending team.
- All about quick transition, there needs to be an element of quick decision making and awareness otherwise the ball will transfer a lot (in a given 6v3 situation, we'd expect the team to be able to make 10-15 passes before losing possession, minimum. Here it may be less)
- Focus on angles of support, movement of players to middle space, instead of being on the fringes of play
- Allow for a few years outside the box (as normal).
- After 10 minutes, join boxes and continue drill (switch play too create space, otherwise it becomes a 6v6 exercise in a small area! Easy to lose possession).

Passing/Combination Warm Up (5 mins)
(5 minutes)
Key Factors
-10x10 box
- 2 balls
- 4 yellows
- 4 reds
- 1 green
Yellows play to yellows, reds to reds. Green player is involved with either team. Transition ball from side to side.
Coaching Points:
- Pass quality and type
- Movement in the middle to create space: One player goes long, one short
- Movement on the sides, up and down.
- Awareness of movement around you, scan, scan, scan!
- How many touches do we really need?
Pointers:
If possible, can end player play through traffic to other end? (Ask players what this causes them to do in the midde)
Rotation of end players if they enter the middle
