Playing Out Patterns: Part II (15 mins)
Organisation
- 3/4 Pitch set up as per Part I
Activity
- With the Black team now in possession they aim to play out from the back
- White players now take up positions as shown between the poles & aim to intercept any passes forward. White players can only work between poles
- Black team aims to work ball through the thirds & break into attacking 1/3 and/or play into AM who plays behind White midfield unit
- Once possession reaches AM in attacking 1/3 activity ends. Players set up as per Part I & activity repeats
Progression
P - If any White player intercepts the ball they can break forward & attacking towards goal
P - One White midfield player (2nd line) can drop into middle 1/3 to close down/press Black midfielders

Playing Out Patterns: Part III (15 mins)
Organisation
- 3/4 Pitch set up as per Part I & II
- 3 Mini Goals set up as shown across the pitch
- 16 Players (1 Goalkeeper, 8 Defenders & 7 Attackers)
Activity
- Activity follows the same pattern & function as Part I & II
- Black team now have RM & LM in team framework. White team "CB" to help defend mini goals
- White midfield players (2nd line) now operate inside middle 1/3 vs Blacks (4v3)
- Black AM midfielder operates behind midfield line as before. If AM drops into middle 1/3 rotation must happen with one of CMs. White CB can only operate in attacking 1/3
- As before if White team intercept/win possession they attack goal
- Black team now aim to break into attacking 1/3 & score in any mini goal

- 8 poles set up as shown marking thirds of pitch
- 13 Players (1 Goalkeeper, 6 Defenders & 6 Attackers)
- 1 Ball (additional on outside)
Activity
- Play begins with white players behind line of poles, who have 3 passes to circulate the ball before clipping ball forward into goalkeeper or defenders (black)
- As the ball is circulated the black team take up their defensive structure behind the ball: slide, compact & connected
- Once the ball is with the goalkeeper or defenders transition occurs & activity changes direction
- Black team now look to 'Play Out from the Back" (See Part II)
