Set Up: Use centre circle, or mark out circle area with cones. 1 Ball per player.
Instructions: Players dribble inside the circle or marked area. One person (Hunter) leaves their ball out and tries to win the ball and take it from another player. If at any stage a ball goes outside the area, that ball is left outside the area, and now there are 2 Hunters are trying to steal a ball. Anyone without a ball is a Hunter
The game continues for a set amount of time (5 mins) or until there are no balls left inside the area.
Variation/Progression:
HARDER: Reduce the time limit of the game. (1-2 min, making a higher intensity game)
Start the game with more hunters.
Reduce the area to play in
EASIER: Players can have a life and bring a ball back into the area
Hunter can only walk or hop on one leg
Increase the area to play in
Key Coaching Points: Players should keep the ball close, using multiple touches and in close to their feet. Players should dribble with their head up, watching for the hunter, and looking for free space to dribble into.
Player Coaching Points: Players should use both feet, and inside and outside of the foot. Players should always be scanning, looking for space and keeping away from the hunter. If the hunter comes, they should shield the ball, and dribble away into space. The Hunter should always try to win a ball rather than kick it out of the area.
