Set Up
Create a 20x20m area using a cone to split into 4 equal squares.
2 teams of 4 - 1 of each colour on the outside at both ends and 2 of each colour in the middle.
How to Play
- Ball starts with end blue player who plays in for a CM combination and play out to team mate on the opposite side....switch to red player on the outside and red play the other way.
Progressions
- Team not in possession to cause passive interference
- CM and play directly into end player but other CM must be in a position to play a 1-2 with end player before he switches.
- Outside player can come inside to receive but highest CM must go high to fill the hole
Details
- Get in a position to receive the ball facing forward in space
- Look to play forward with minimum touches
- Quickly get into a position where you can support your pass (inc outside players)
- If the ball comes into you facing backwards, can you play it 'around the corner' to a team mate or quickly play backwards to a team mate who is facing forward.
- If the ball is played backwards, can 1 of the CM make a forward run to receive through/over defenders
- If the pass into you is slow, quickly come and meet it

Set Up
Create a 36x20m area (add 8m end zones to the passing practice) with a small goal at either end.
- 1v1 in each end zone (ST vs CB)
- 2v2 in the middle
- Additional player(s) to play as CM for team in possession.
How to Play
Coach starts the game by playing the ball in.
- Combine to score in the goal
- If in possession, your team can send one player into the end zone to support CB playing out or support ST
- Defending ST to defend passively to begin with.
- To start with, the ball has to be played into the ST (no dribbling into the end zone)
- Out of possession CM players cannot go into the end zones.
Progressions
- CB can drive forward as long as a team mate drops in to cover
- ST can come short as long as a team mate goes high into the end zone
- CM can score from outside the end zone (to keep position of opposition CB real)
- Always have to have at least 1 player in the end zones when in possession
Details
- Receive facing forward as high up the field as possible
- CM to interchange positions to support player on the ball
- Drive forward if space in front to engage opposition
- Late movements to receive higher up the field
- Checked movements to create space in-front or in-behind
- Look to make runs beyond the player on the ball if space behind

Set Up
Use 3/4 of a field with a 30x30m square marked out (shown in diagram).
Blue (focus team) play 2-3-3
Red (opposition) play 1-3-3
How to Play

- Blue have to play through the front of the square to attack
- Red look to win possession and play to neutral players as quickly as possible.
- Red #10 to make a recovery run once ball have been played into the square.
- 2 players from each team can support their team mates when ball played through.
Progressions
- Neutral player can drive forward if space in front
- Red #10 can pressure neutral players or recover as soon as ball is switched
Details
- Receive facing forward whenever possible
- Dribble/play forward whenever possible, if you can't, play to someone who can
- Interchange movement to disorganise opposition and create space for self/others
- If a team mates comes short/goes long, look to get into the space available
- Support team mate on the ball in front, behind and at the sides.

Use just over 1/2 of a field with a full size goal at either end and sides brought in 8m. Split the field into 3rds.
How to Play

- Pass into the next 3rd
- Dribble into the next 3rd
No corners - ball to start with GK of team who won the corner.
Explanation
8v8 where the intention is for players to play freely and competitively whilst we observe whether learning / improvement has occurred in relation to the session objective.
Evaluation
1. Did the session achieve its objective?
2. Is there observable improvement in performance of the team task?
3. Are players executing player tasks independently?
