Play 2v2 or 3v3 (four gates), but when the ball goes out, a goal is scored, or time goes to long – three new players for each team enter the field. Have the players initiate the game with a pass across to the other team.
•Are you in a good position to support the player with the ball?
•Was your pass in front of the runner or did he have to slow down?
•What can you do to eliminate the defender?
•If you don’t get the pass right away can you find a new run to make?
•What run or combination will work in this situation?
Coaching Points:
- When and where to be and to pass
- How to support
- Who attacks and defends in different situations
- What does the game require from each individual player in certain instances

Progress into a 4 goal game with each team attacking a set of two goals. Add a skilled neutral player to induce success within the group. Stress earlier points made in session and emphasize decision making throughout the exercise If one gate is blocked where can we go? How can we get to the other goal as quickly as possible and where do we need to be to make this happen? What movements could be key to opening up space?

Technical Activity (15 mins)
In a grid split the players into two groups. One group is inside the grid and the other group is spread around the outside of the grid. The players around the outside have a ball at their feet, and the inside players do not. For 60 seconds, the inside group checks to a player on the outside, receives a pass, and passes it back to the same person. Then they’ll find a new person on the outside to repeat the sequence. This continues for one minute. Switch the groups.

•left foot only two touch
•receive with one foot pass with the other
•Give & Go (players inside have the ball for this one)
•Overlaps (players inside have the ball for this one)
