Key Factors: passing to wide positions and breaking lines in a competitive scenario. Focus on accurate passing, decision-making and creativity. Also look to encourage supporting player on the ball and correct body shape.
Organisation: one player from each team on the short edge. Two teams of three in the middle and two defenders (bibbed in third colour). Start with one ball between each team (red and blue) and the aim is to pass the ball between their team mates on the edge.
Introduce progression by adding defenders (by removing two players on the edge and teams being able to pass to either of remaining players on edge). Deliver for 10mins.

Technique
Key Factors: passing to creatre width and depth. Focus on moving ball to create opportunities to break lines. Opportunity to introduce mechanics of passing and also to encourage players to adapt body position.
Organisation: Set up 50mx30m pitch. 12 players bibbed into two teams. Six mini goals (or sufficient cones) placed just beyond the pitch alongside the long edge of the pitch. In groups of three players to pass ball from edge to player in middle and across the line. Focus on mechanics of the pass, as well as player in the middle receiving ball sideways on in order to quickly move ball out wide. This will simulate passing to create width. Deliver for between 5-7mins.
