Specific Practice (15 mins)

Organization:

- 7 (4-3-3) v 6+GK (4-4-2)

-Blue team;-

-DM always start with the ball 

-DM need to make first pass the ball either to RM or LM

-Both blue winger has to stay wide


-Red team;-

-Defending team has to push the defensive line till the yellow mannequin when the blue start/restart

-They need to stay with in the width of 18yards box 

-If they win the ball, they need to score in 8-10s 

Area size: 

Half pitch  

Roles & Responsible: 

Goalkeeper - stand between 6 yards box and penalty spot 

LB - stand between 18 yards line box edge and 6 yards line box edge

LCB - stand inline with width of the goal post

RCB - stand inline with width of the goal post 

RB - stand between 18 yards line box edge and 6 yards line box edge

LCM- stand inline with width of the goal post

RCM- stand inline with width of the goal post

Key Points:

-stay compact (inline with 18yards box)

-force them wide 

-press on the first touch (fast, low, slow)

-leave the furthest player 

Interventions:

Problem 1:

Defending the overlap and underlap 2v1 situation

Solution 1: 

If RB (blue) overlap and underlap;

-LB (red) stay and defend RW (blue) , LM (red) chase down the overlap who RB (blue) to defend the 1v1 

or 

-LB (red) can follow the overlap RB (blue) and LM (red) drop to cover LB (red) position, RM (red) shuffle between the edge of 6 yards and 18 yards box

LB or LM- fast, slow, side, low (as soon as the ball travel to blue LW)

LB or LM - press quickly on overlap RB (Blue) to corner/sideline

RM (red) shuffle between the edge of 6 yards and 18 yards box

LCB stay between 6 yard edge box and the first post, RCB position in-front of penalty mark, RB stay inline with the second post

What if: 

RM or LB (blue) move to midfield and make the underlap;  

LM (red) will mark on the underlap player 

RM (red) shuffle between the edge of 6 yards and 18 yards box 

Defensive line stay compact and narrow between 18yards box 

Encourage FB and Midfield's  to make overlap and underlap runs 

Roles & Responsible: 

GK - communicate from the back, Facing the ball, stand near to the post 

RCB - stand inline between first post 

RB- stand inline with far post

Problem 2:

Defending the overload in midfield 

Solution 2:

-If DM (blue) join to attack, both midfielder (red) will stay in their position until the first pass made to RM or LM (Blue)

-If pass made to RM (blue), RM (red) will press on him and LM (red) will cover, vice versa 

RM and LM (red) - fast, slow, side, low (as soon as the ball travel to blue LM and RM)

The back four will stay compact within the 18 yards box and leave the further player away 

What if: 

ST (blue) drop to link up the play;

Solution: 

LCB or RCB (red) follow ST (blue) till 10 yards away from 18yards box 

RCB (red) and FB (red) narrow up to cover the space 

RM and LM (red) stay compact within the 6 yards box reference 

Encourage the DM (blue) to dribble forward to link with with ST (blue)
