Set up
No more than 6 or 7 players per team (even numbers on each team if possible)
No Goal keepers as everyone should be moving everywhere.
1 target goal each - position doesnt matter - its just a target to aim for.
bibs and balls
Object of game to put the ball in to the net. (you may have to restrict where they can score from if they can throw it the full length of the pitch.
Rules
1. You CANNOT move with the ball.
2. You cannot take the ball off the person in possession.
Outcomes.
Because no player can now run with the ball they must look for passing opportunities. This means players have to make clever runs off the ball, move the ball quickly and take their time to look for the correct pass (could be backwards). Players should be encouraged to look for overlaps, make clever runs off the ball and not to be afraid to pass backwards.
Younger players should be encouraged to make easy passes as they often look to throw it as far as they can (which isnt as far as they think)
Progression - Move to feet but again players CANNOT be tackled but equally they CANNOT move with the ball.

Defending in 1 v 1 Situations
Set up
Players split in to 2 sides.
Player starts with Ball - passes straight to oppostion who receives the ball and trys to score a goal in the goal. The defending player must try and get the ball and score in either of the 2 away goals.
When the attempt finishes, goals scored or ball out, players go to the back of the other queue.
The session is defending based so emphasise on the defenders body shape and positioning on the pitch
5 Defendsive principals
Delay - is the defense’s ability to slow down an offense to disrupt the pace and/or numerical advantage of an attack.
Depth - Depth is a defense’s placement on the field -- too deep and there is too much space for an offense to hold the ball in front of them, too shallow and there is too much space for an offense to get behind.
Balance - refers to a defense’s strength all over the field, not just those directly defending the ball.
Concentration - is a defense’s focus, which is critical to avoid simple mistakes like miskicks that can give opponents undeserved opportunities.
Composure/discipline/patience - is an intangible that an entire team must possess to maintain defensive shape and the other four principles even while under constant pressure.

Session Objective: Long Passes under Pressure
Organisation:
Overall area size is 20x60 this is split putting a team in a area of 15x20 either end, which leaves a middle area of 30x20, in this middle area, there is a defence box that is 5x5. Aim of game is players in box A have to pass the ball to Box C, but they have to make minimum of 3 passes in their own box first, they must do this under the pressure of having 2 Defenders trying to stop them making the pass, who are released from thier gate as soon as ball is in the area. Once ball is passed to next box succesful, defenders have to get back into thier gate before other 2 defenders can leave and close other box down. Once a team loses possesion, they become defensive team. Coach to keep a supply of balls to make tempo of game fast. Can progress this game by making A and C area smaller, make minimum passes 5, and even allowin remaining 2 defensive players be able to stop the long pass in the middle box.
Key Factors:
Create space to recieve ball,
Observe movement of team mates to create pass,
Type of pass,
Weight of pass,
Body adjustment,
Recognise importance of keeping possesion.
