Ball Familiarisation (5 mins)

Set up: Each player with a ball in their own space

Organisation:

The coach will demonstrate a variety of ball mastery movements that the players have to copy.

Warm-Up - Freeze Tag (5 mins)

Warm-Up - Freeza Tag

Set-up: 20x20 area (adjust as needed based on numbers of players), two taggers without a ball, rest of the players with balls.

Organisation: Two taggers try to tag as many players as possible to make them frozen. Taggers must touch the ball for the player to be frozen. Once frozen, ball is placed on head with legs spread. To be untagged, a free players must play the ball through the frozen players legs.

Challenge the defenders to try and end the game by tagging everyone. To make it easier for dribblers, remove a defender, make the space bigger, to make it harder for the dribblers - add defender or make space smaller.

3v1 Rondo (15 mins)

Set Up:

8mx8m square. 1 Ball.

Rules and Objectives:

3 white players have to combine 4 passes to score a point

1 Blue player attempts to win the ball and kick it out. If the ball goes out of play the Blue player earns a point. 

White players can steal the ball back before it is kicked out.

The first to 3 points wins the game. 

Change the defender for a new player. 

Coach Emphasis:

Quality of pass- weight and accuracy, passing surface (inside or outside of foot)

Body position upon receiving the ball - towards the largest part of the space

Supporting runs - players must move to find open space to receive a pass. 

Q&A:

What is a good pass, what is a bad pass? When should you move to find space? Who should you pass to? 

Variations:

4v1, 4v2, 5v2

Progressions:

Alter the space to make it more or less difficult to score points

Small Sided Game (15 mins)

Set Up

Target Man Game, 15 x 20m field

Rules and Objectives:

Both Blues and Whites have a target player to find with a pass to score a point

Coach Emphasis:

Spread out to find space to dribble and pass, head up to see passing opportunities. Movement from all players to find space to receive a pass. Quality of pass (weight, accuracy)
