Organization: (5-6 Players per box)
This technical practice is focused on developing possession as a diamond. With at least 4 players working at any one time, we develop passing quality, timing of movement and touch to maintain speed in the passing sequence. In a diamond set up, we have 2 players on each mannequin and a single player on 2 other mannequins as shown. Objective is to receive inside and outside of markers maintaining passing sequence.
Coaching Points:
1. Players to be positive in dribble.
2. Look to move defender one way to attack then other.
3. Focus on technical execution.
4. Encourage players to play wide head up.
5. Can players use both feet, move the ball with all parts of the foot.
Questions/Answers:
1. What different parts of the foot can we use and why?
2. Are we quick enough with execution in-front of goal?
3. The importance of eyes up? See where you're passing and avoid defenders/obstacles. Moving the ball quickly? Keeps defenders off balance. Using both feet? More options for passing. Not making it predictable for the defender? Quick movements/change of direction confuse defenders.
4. What does this shape remind you of on the field? F, CM, LM, RM

Objective: To pass or dribble forward
Organization: 24x24 yard field with one main goal and two mini goals. Play 3v2 with GK. Red (attacking team) dribbles or passes in. White(defending team) starts from top of the box and tries to win the ball and score on the mini goals. Rotate every 2-3 minutes (including GK).
Could do 30x30 with 4v3 w/ GK. Same concept.
Questions/Answers: 1. How do you find an opening? Look at the opponent's position. 2. What should you do if you see an opening? Pass or dribble through it. 3. How do you create an opening? Make the opponent move by changing direction or how fast you're moving.

Warm Up (15 mins)
Organization: This technical warm up takes place in a 20 by 30-yard area and focuses on developing players passing combinations, awareness of teammates and dribbling. We will wok both sides of this practice at the same time. To begin, the start player ( 7 and 11 ) will pass forward to the players on the cones. They will then set the ball back across for the player diagonal to them. The players will play a longer diagonal pass to the end players. The two central players will run across each other and play a 1-2 combination with the end player, who receives the ball back and dribbles to the start station. The next two players will start their sequence as the end player receives the ball back to dribble.
Key Coaching Points:
1. Passing accuracy and power
2. Awareness of when teammates are passing to avoid balls knocking each other
3. Close control while dribbling
4. Alternate feet when passing and dribbling
5. Power on passes in front of teammates for them to run onto
6. Understanding of the sequence
Questions:
1. How quickly did you understand the sequence?
2. How did your accuracy differ from the short and longer passes?
3. Are you maintaining control of the ball while dribbling?
