Centre Midfield Passing Intensity (20 minutes)
Set Up
- 16x24 grid
Instructions:
- 7 red vs 4 white or 8 red v 5 white
- red is looking to possess the ball versus white
- positional possession to have a sense of the centre mid role
- points: 1 point if the ball is passed through mid to striker using 2 mids. Or 10 Passes in possession. - - this will force white to pressure the ball and not just defend getting the ball
- If white wins the ball each pass made will be a point for them
Coaching Points:
- all centre mids must be aware of the situation
- body shape to allow players to play ball forward
- when to make a pentrating pass or when to possess
- quality of pass
- clever movements
- angle and distantce of support
- consistently scanning/checking shoulders

Set Up
- 3 blue cones 10 yards part
- 2 red cones
- 4 soccer balls
Instructions
- A starts with the ball
- B checks away from the cone at an angle once the ball is played
- C checks away then turns into the pass in front of the cone. B Makes a pass into C who then dribbles to the back of line D
- D-E-F Mirror A-B-C
- rotation is A to B, B to C, C restarts on opposite side. Same for D-E-F.
Coaching Points:
- focusing on B and E position
- check away from the defender at an angle
- body shape side on
- receive with back foot from the pass to allow body to open in direction of travel
- check shoulders/scan to be aware of surroundings
- recognize when to play the ball to feet or space
