SAQ - Ladder Work
After the warm up the players will then go onto their SAQ (speed, agility & quickness)
The area of focus is feetwork which is related to the area of technical development we are looking to achieve.
Organisation
The group is split into 2 groups like they already were in the warm up.
There will be a coach for each team.
Activity
Players will go through the ladders and perform an exercise demonstated wither by the coach or a player.
After coming off the ladder the player will then receive a ball from a coach.
The player will receive the ball from the coach perform a technique (bounce pass) before then returning to the coach.
The exercise on the ladder and the technique challange from the coach will change after each player has performed the activity twice.
Ladder Work
One foot in each, right foot only, left foot only, 2 feet in each, right foot hopping, left foot hopping, side on (leading with right then left), shuffeling etc.
Ball Exercise
Bounce pass (both feet), Control & pass, Inside foot volleys, Laces volleys, Control (thigh) & pass back (same side), Chest control & pass back, Headers.
Coaching Points
High knees, drive the arms, body technique, speed, agiltiy, balance, co-ordination

Technical - Passing & Receiving (Keep)
Organisation
4 10x10 boxes (20x20 warm up box)
Players split into 2 groups and each group in a box diagonally across from each other.
Players are then numbers from 1-5 etc.
Each team has a football between them.
Activity
Sequence passing - players will pass in order of their number. 1-2-3-4-5 then back to 1 again.
Players are to pass and move around the area between each other looking to transfer the behaviours introduced within the warm up.
There will now be more a focus on the technical aspects and passing & receiving the ball.
Coaching Points
360 scanning, awareness, maximise the area, body shape, first touch, communication, pass - weight & accuracy, movement off the ball.
Progression
If the players are comfortable and executing the task effectiveley the coach can then introduce another ball.
Here this should test and challenege the players as there is now 2 footballs going around the box.
This challenges to use the coaching points and do everything twice as quick which will help enhance their speed of play and ability to handle the ball under pressure.
2nd Progression - Going back to 1 football. After playing a pass in the original box the player is then to transition into the next box to receive their next pass.
This will challenge the players movement off the ball and getting into a position to receive the ball.

Game Related - Possession Box
Organisation
20x20 box
Players split into 2 groups (5v5, 6v6 etc)
2 players from each team on the outside as wall players
The rest inside to make a small game ( 3v3, 4v4)
4 small sided goals at each corner of the box.
Activity
Possession box focused on keeping the ball
The team in possession of the ball is looking to keep it from the other team
Using the players on the outside the team in possession can create an overload to help them keep the ball (5v3, 6v4)
The team in possession look to make 5 consecutive passes to then free up the chance to score in one of the small sided goals.
If the team loses possession of the ball their count goes back to 0 and have to start again.
The wall players on the outside are aloud to move up and down their line in relation to the ball to help be an option for a pass.
Progression - Players are restricted to 3 touch maximum.
Coaching Points - Players looking to use key behaviours and coaching points used throughout the session.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Conditioned Game
6v6 conditioned game
Organisation
Full pitch 40x28
Activity - Conditioned Game (1 up)
The game will play as normal untill 1 team scores.
For the team that scores they will start with the ball from their own goal and they have to keep possession of the ball untill the other team scores.
In order for the team in possession to then score a goal they must complete 5 passes.
If the other team score a goal it then returns to a normal game again untill 1 team goes 1 up.
Progression - If the team who are 1 up and keeping possession of the ball reach 5 passes they then can go and try score again.

Warm Up (20 mins)
Warm Up
Organisation
20x20 Box
Activity
Firstly the players will move around the area going in different directions for a movement warm up.
Players are to use movements they would use in a game: forwards, backwards & sideways.
The coach will now look to add in basic mobility movements: High Knees, Heel Flicks, Side steps (forwards & backwards), Cross overs (kareoke), Short and fast (forwards & backwards).
Progression
After the players have have done their movement warm up the ball will now be introduced.
A number of footballs related to half the group of players will be played in (ball between 2).
Players can pass and move around the area, passing to any player.
Once receiving a pass a player can then dribble with the ball performing a skill or a turn before then passing to the next player.
Players are encouraged to use the key behaviours the session is designed around which are: 360 scanning, awareness & body shape.
The passing pattern can then change: the blues only pass to blues and reds only pass to reds, blue to red then red to blue ( can't pass to someone in the same team).
Different types of passes: bounce pass, overlap & pass to receive and turn.
Coaching Points
360 scanning, Awareness, Body shape, movement off the ball, communication, weight & accuracy of pass.
