Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): 1v1 change of direction moves
Description
Players should gain an understanding of how, when and where to change direction with the ball.

Activity 1
Set up:
Defenders have a ball each and they set up in between the goals. The defenders dribbles the ball and passes to the opossing player. In order for you to score you must cross the line and change direction.
Coaching points:
1) Commit the defender.
2) Take advantage of the defenders momentum.
3) Accelerate into the space to leave the defender behind.

Activity 2
Set up:
2 goal game. Inorder for you to score you must change direction to cross the line. Players set up in 2v2 or 3v3.
Coaching points:
1) Can your teammate create space for the player on the ball.
2) Communicate.
3) Good first touch to keep the ball close.
Progression:
1) If you change of direction it counts as an extra goal.

Conditioned game
Set up:
Players play 3v3 or 4v4. Condition - If you change of direction and pass you get an extra goal, if you change of direction and score you get an extra goal.
Coaching points:
Reinforce from previous excercises.
Progression:
Progress to unconditioned scrimmage.

Warmup / Technical
Set up:
Players set up on each end red cone with a ball each. The player dribble forward to perform their move in the middle zone to get out of the square. Star with going to the right then left.
Coaching points:
1) Push the ball forward into space with the laces, toe pointed down using the small pinky toes.
2) Exagerate the diguise.
3) Head up, focus on the space you want to take.
Progression:
1) Add cones that the player need to ball manipulate through using the inside and outside of the feet.
