3) V-drags
4) Cryuff Turns
30 secs - 40 secs on each move, use the cones to perform moves on.
Challenges - How many can you perform in 25 secs and beat that score
Progressions
Add defenders
Switch ball - Can you scan whilst dribbling
Coach Verbal feedback = Concurrent in session - Terminal to provide rest

Warm up 3-4 Mins
Principles
Warm up will form a part of the principles of defending and how we move body after we have pressed the ball.
5 x Players per section start on the Line
1) Jog up to cone Jog back down
2) Now Jog backwards from line (Check shoulder to where coach is standing shout how many fingers Iam holding up) Scanning
3) Jogging Backwards going L+R - Can you turn your hips and shoulders.
4) In pairs one jog forward moving L + R
Defending principles in warm up, work on rotating hips and moving backwards,
Terminal feedback - Control physical output.

Used in the Central and Half space zones
Defending Principles
15 Mins
Feedback - Concurrent
Work Rest Ratio - 2:1
3-4 players per station
Player on cone passes to player on the line, Player from cone applies press to the attacker and stops them dribbling past the defender cone.
Defenders press - 1. Get in Line2. Pressure on the ball3. Deceleration4. Body Position5. Stay on toes6. Be Patient7. Decision
Attackers - at pace at the defender - Change of pace change of direction.
Aim to swap roles Defenders become attackers
Progression (If time allows) Bip up now.
Coach plays ball in to either three of the attackers - All three attackers move out (Must stay in zones) all three defenders move out together.
Objective for attackers to dribble or move the ball to the defenders line
Defenders, if ball in there zone apply fast pressure (Patience) stay in zone, Covering defender stop pass through on shoulder of Defenders who is pressing.

Specific Practice / Defending the Final Third
Welsh Way Principles
Understand when and how to minimise space, deal with crosses / shots & protect space centrally in the defensive thirdOrganisation / Area Size
60m x 50m
Reds Play 1-3-2 (Yellow are CB but nuterals)
Play 1CM, 2 wingers and a , #10 / #9 and two
opposition blue team 3-2-1 (Two Yellows as neutrals)
ExplanationThe Reds in possession have to try to get into the final third after getting the ball from the server of Yellows. This will give the coach the opportunity to work on the defensive principles of defending the final third. The red team here are illustrated as occupying 3 out of 5 zones we will use to educate the players on what we want. If the red team win the ball they must then counter attack by breaking lines under a managed countdown by the coach before scoring to small side goals
Teams can 'score' by:
Block 1. The blue team get a goal scoring by playing to either Yellow
Block 2. The blue team will get two goals by scoring by dribbling through the central zone.
The reds on gaining the ball will get a goal if they score in normal manner
How
The coach is to work with ONE team only, out of possession, in this
case the Blues on how they defend the final third. When the Blues have
possession they wont be coached but will look to break lines on the
counter attack. The coach will manage the opposition to attack the
final third and ensure realism for both teams for the duration of the session
1-4 Defend tighter, deeper, more narrow
Block 1: Manage the Reds to attack centrally through #9 and #10 is double goals Score from a cross is a goal. Blues score by playing straight to Yellow either one
Block 2: Manage the Reds to create the 2v1 wide against your full backs. Coach the solutions with the reds
Challenges, Conditions & Targets
The target for the blues is to score in the fixed goal from central or wide. For the red team it's the small goals. The red team out of possession will also fill two out of the three zones when defending leaving the furthest player/s. The reds are also challenged with scoring from a counter attack by breaking lines.
The two full backs on the blue they MUST be on two touch or two seconds in possession. This gives you the problem as the coach that you want but keeps things realistic also. They're key to the problems you want to give yourself as the coach. Initially manage them to support from behind (minute 1-4) then encourage them to give you the problems of a 2v1 against your full back either side (minute 5-12)

SSG - 20 Mins
Feedback - Terminal to control physical output player potentially tire at end
Work Rest Ratio - 4:1
Play uncontentious game play free 9 vs 9 (depending on numbers)
After 10 Mins (Maybe less) Apply 2 magic players Depends on numbers to create a over load
Principles from the drills come to life with main principle to win ball back in 5 secs - After the 5 seconds - Apply principles of
Stop forward pass
Force away from goal
Recovery back into shape quickly
Challenges
If win ball back in 5 seconds extra point/goal
Progressions
SWITCH - Keepers swap goals (if there two) (Fun element players need to react to situations)
Limited number of touches (Could be just team related)
No throw-in ball played in from either assistant coaches or coach (Can be a transition)
Tactitcal
5 Challenges, provided there are enough mats - to build in the pronciples from Flint O-P
AlwaysDefend 3 out of the 5 Channels Dictated on where the ball is positioned.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Keepers - Communicate - use feet to play out from back or distribute the ball with your hands - Support defenders with ball PLAY - SCAN - SUPPORT.
CB - Positive play forward, can you run the ball out from the back create overload
Wingers - Use wide - Unbalance defenders in 1 vs 1 - Read the press anticipate the pass into your player your marking get tighter.
CM - Fast pressure on ball in middle of pitch (Defending) - Stop Forward pass - With ball can we get in space to move the ball think Kante - Joe Allen
FW - Create the depth play off shoulder off defender - Remember your the first defender - if you cant apply pressure on the ball don't allow opposition the option to play through the middle force them wide.
