2v1 attacking movements (40 mins)
2v1 movements. Penetration off of overloads.
1st movement - crossover run. Initiated by the passer immediately after passing the ball, before it reaches teammate, passer sprints cross face of teammate. Receiving player takes touch in opposite direction and leads 1st player with a pass towards the far gate.
Progression : add 2 defenders from each team in opposite grid. One defender enters space and attackers look to dribble under control through one of the gates. If attackers turn and face away from goal, play ends.
2nd movement - overlap. Run is intiated by 1st touch of receiving player coming inside (a form of communication). Runner makes a curved run (banana) around other side of receiving player and receiving player leads runner with a pass towards far gate.
3rd movement - creative solutions/variations.
Work starting from both cones.
Progressions : add 2 defenders from each side to the opposite side. Go opposed for 2 mins & keep points. Switch roles of players often.
Instruction points :
- player on ball runs towards far cone to create space/time for themselves and teammate
- player running off ball shapes run to watch the ball at all times
- player running off the ball doesn't get beyond the ball (onside)
- player passing the ball plays ball towards opposite gate, not feet necessarily
- lots of front foot passing
