SAQ Race
Organization:

Instructions:
Team A begins as the attackers, team B as the defenders. Players are live when attacker takes their first step. A must run to the blue disc and is then looking to score by running through either yellow gate, B is looking to tag them. Play for 90 seconds, and then switch lines. Play a 2 round competition.
Coaching Points:
- Head up to see the defender's position
- Decision - go straight to goal if ahead of defender, use of body to unbalance opponent if they are infront of you
- Change of pace to get past defender after fake
- Body Mechanics for changing direction

Technical Repititions
Organization:
As above
Instructions:
Players in groups of four with a ball each. Player one drives at the cone and performs a move before going past it. The next player does the same upon making eye contact with the dribbler once they have performed their move. Process repeats.
Learning Outcomes:
Identification of 1vs 1 (space behind defender)
Positive 1st touch (drive at defender, makes it easier to unbalance defender)
Attack defenders front foot
Awareness of next action (where is the goal, space, teammates, covering defenders)
Smaller touches on the ball (use of pinky toe to dribble the ball) “Like Messi” as approaching defender
Unbalance defender with ball movement
Unbalance defender with body movement (Use of body to sell the fake)
Timing of Execution of move based upon space between you and the defender
Protect the ball (put body between defender and ball)
Final touch of move bigger (allows head to come up)
Accelerate away if looking to continue to dribble
Cut across defender, If looking to continue dribbling
Take the ball inside the opponents tackling radius
Drag the ball across the body with sole of the foot
Take the ball past the defender with inside of the opposite foot
Drag the ball across the front of the body with sole of the foot
Step over the top of the ball with the opposite foot
Carry on in the same direction as the ball
Angle of body so that the ball comes out in a forward motion
Flick the ball with the same foot which you rolled with
