1v1 def in front
Topic
- 1v1 attacking with pressure from the front. (Total time 20 mins).
Principle
- Engage opponent: Create a 1v1
- Drive with the ball to exploit space.
- Reading the body shape of the opponent and engaging on the most obvious or weak side.
- Accelerate when eliminating the opponent.
Time
- 4 x 4-minute blocks
- 1 minute recovery time/coaching point
Players
- 6-8 players per field. 12 or more player's make 2 fields.
Space/equipment
- Cones, Balls, Flats, Mini goals.
Description
Defender starts with the ball and passes into the forward, the forward must dribble past the line (flats) in order to score. If the defender wins the ball, they can score in the opposite goal.
Coaching points
- Positive 1st touch (towards defender).
- Unbalance.
- positive touch past defender.
- Acceleration to get by or create a yard to finish.

- Engage opponent: Create a 1v1 or a 2v1
- Drive with the ball to exploit space.
- Reading the body shape of the opponent and engaging on the most obvious or weak side.
- Accelerate when eliminating the opponent.
Time
- 4 x 4-minute blocks
- 1 minute recovery time/coaching point
Players
- 8-16 players.
Space/equipment
- Cones, Balls, Flats, Mini goals.
Description
- This small sided is focused on developing foundation phase players’ ability to play forward, dribble and take on players in a 1 v 1 situation.
- Teams are split into two teams of 4-6 players plus a goalkeeper.
- The aim of this practice is for teams to create goal-scoring opportunities by playing forward passes.
- If any ball is passed backwards or sidewards, the player must dribble forward and take on an opponent if there is one in in close distance or look for a shot at goal.
- Set up the teams to create 1v1 situations on the pitch as shown in the diagram.
- The team who scores the most goals after a set period wins!
Coaching points
• Confidence when in possession of the ball
• Encourage good movement to create options for forward passes
• Good communication between teammates
• Close control when dribbling
• Hit the target when shooting, teammates to follow in for rebounds.

Description
Player's perform specific set of moves at each poll (defender). Each block will require a different skill/combination. Focus on peforming the different skills by going to the right and then the left.
Skills example- please adapt to your player's needs.
1- body feint (double body feint)?
2- left foot scissor, outside right foot touch- right foot scissor, left foot outside touch.
3- Double scissors
4- Right foot soll roll, left foot scissor to the La croqueta (Iniesta) or double Iniesta
5- inside touch right foot touch x2 body side on- outside touch right foot explode (Doku) to Ronaldo chop
6- be creative to the ability of your players.
