Animation 1

Setup:

  • Field Size: 20x25 yard area (adjustable depending on player ability/age).
  • Goals: Four small goals.
  • Teams: 4 teams positioned on each side of the area.
  • Equipment: One ball per 1v1 round, starting with the Green Team.

Activity:

  • The game begins with one player from the Green Team making a pass to the opposing player (from any team).
  • The attackerattempts to score by dribbling into any of the gates/goals.
  • The defence tries to win the ball back. If they do, they can counter-attack and attempt to score in any of the gates/goals.
  • Rotation:

    • After each duel, the players return to their team and the next pair from different teams takes the field for a 1v1.
    • Keep rotating until all players have participated.

Progressions:

  • Gate Bonus Points: If the attacker or defender dribbles the ball through the gates on the opposite side of the area before scoring in the mini-goals, they earn double points for their team. This encourages players to use the whole field and rewards controlled dribbling.
  • Double 1v1s: Have two 1v1 games happening simultaneously in different areas of the field, making it more challenging for both attackers and defenders to stay focused and communicate.
  • Time Limit: Introduce a time limit (e.g., 20 seconds) for players to score. If neither player scores within the time, the round resets.
  • Double Points Player: Introduce a secret "double points" player. At the start of the round, the coach secretly assigns a double points player from each team. If that player scores, their team earns 10 points. The identity of the double points player is revealed only after they score, adding an element of surprise.
