Breaking lines passing through / over the top. (15 mins)
Passing and moving (Breaking Lines)
set up
GKs to go and do catching practise with assistant coach.
The grid can be made bigger with more player. If you have more players for the session then this can be done over two grids and in the small sided the teams can be rotated.
The coach can regress the session by reducing the number of passes before the final ball, or they can extend the pith size to suit the abilities.
The coach can progress this by allowing thr players in the middle to intercept the final pass.
Coach interventions
The coach may feel a step in and demo is needed if the pass through is not being completed. The coach will demonstrate the pass and move around the grid.
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
Add in a challenge for the grey team to score by setting up cones goals and they must get the ball between the cones as soon as they win the ball back.

Breaking line through and over
Activity:
2 teams of 6 (goalkeeper in each team) play in the grids already set from the last exercise.
2 spare player to play in the middle of the grid.
1. Goalkeeper for the blue teams starts with the ball, every time the ball goes out.
2. the GK passes out to one of his players who will then look to play quickly into a midfielder (in yellow).
3. once in the middle section players from the blue team break into the reds area and the midfielder looks to pass to a breaking player and they try and score.
4. if the red team win the ball back they are to look quickly for a pass to the yellow and then break into the blue box to try and score.
5. once the ball is out or a goal is scored we start again with the blue GK
Coaching points.
- Importance of touch and pass, receive on the back foot to see the whole pitch
- players to get up the itch quickly
- Get the shot of early in the red zone to stop being disposed.
Adapt the session by moving a player from each team to the opposition zone to press from the goal kick and also to offer an early option to receive a pass from the midfielders.
Coaching points, the forward to receive the ball on the turn and get their shot of early or look to pass into the space behind for the runners.
final progression - 2 midfielders now join their teams blue/red and mark each and lose each other to offer and option.
Now if the pass isnt on can we look to go over direct to the striker to recieve and then get up and support

Football rounders
2 teams
1. start with 1 player on each base and the other 4 in the home pen.
2. 1st player dribbles through the gate and qyickly passes off to the first player and follows their pass.
3. they pass and follow around the time until the ball come s back to the pen and they start again.
4. switch the teams over so they pass both directions.
adapt by increasing the balls so the players have to follow their pass and then become set to receive the next pass.
Finally a race to the end when all players get back to their pen then that team wins
