FT Skill Introduction (20 mins)

Area 15 x 30. Set Up: starting position marker, then a series of markers 10 steps apart in a line 5 meters to the left and the same but offset 5 meters to the right. Players 6 - 20 divided into two groups

Explanation: First group in a line behind the startin makers, Second group one at each of the line markers. play starts with Player A (first player of starting position group) moves into position to receive a ball from Player B takes a first touch with insdie of foot then passes back to B, then moves off the Player C takes a touch and passes back to C and so on, nce A gets to the last passer they sprint back to the Starting Position line. Player A1 moves off to repeat A action once Player A has received a ball from the third player, D. Starting Group run through three times then groups change positions.

Progression: 1. First touch with outside of foot. 2. Decide if first time pass is on, is the ball coming to you to ebable a first time pass of is it best to take a first touch. 3. Get outside player to pick up ball and throw at chest height for the pass, first touch with chest or thigh. For each progression three run throughs and change positions.

First Touch Skill Training (20 mins)

Area: 20 x 30 Players: 8-16

Explanation: 4 x 4 inside area plus 4 bounces on outside of area who can only pass to the teams they receive the ball from, they can not be defendered by the defenders and can move along sideline. Attacking players and bouncers must take a touch before passing. Attacking team score a point for every 5 consecutive passes. Defending team score a point by intercepting within two passes, if they win the ball they become attacking team. Rotate bouncers with infield players

Progression: Bouncers must pick up the ball when it is passed to them and throw ball out to attackers for chest/thigh first touch

Step Up: reduce size of area. Step Down: increase area size, one of two defenders must alos dribble a ball when defending making it more difficult for then to defend.

Coaching Cues: Perception: Where is space to take first touch into, where are defenders, how close are defenders, where are support players/bouncers: Decision: which direction to take a first touch, which support player to pass to; Execution weight direction of first touch and pass, movement into space to support ball carrier

FT Skill Game (25 mins)

Area 30 x 40 two sets of goals at each end Player 8-16 divided into two teams

Explanation: normal play, play starts with GK playing out. Teams get double points for goals scored following five consecative first touches. Goal Keeper has to guard both goals
