Description

This session is designed to be implemented during the off season, where I am looking to a lots of repetitions and fitness, as well to keep the GKs technically prepared to adjust to the shots, either angle shots, foot work to cover the angles and good handling and diving techniques.

The main purpose is How, When, Where and Why the GKs needs to keep the body in good position and pivot properly to cover the angle and perform the handling.

Instruction details

set up an area of 5 yards, away fro the goal area, Initiate the warm up by setting up 

Activation 1 

passing drills, one touch , two touches, receive outside feet manipulate the space and pass it back, 

Activation 2 -  

playing hands shot stopping drills, with a consistence of 4 - 4 - 4 ( 4 volleys, 4 drop kicks and 4 from the ground up,(Stretching).

Activation 3 -

Ground familiarity ( 8 - 8 R/L )

Gk on ground set position, will perform 8 saves at his/hers R/L

Screen 2 (10 mins)

Recovery Movements Associated with Angles Shot stopping - Angles Coverage Movements - 10 min

Organization

2 Poles, soccer balls, 2 markers

Instruction details

Set up 2 poles 5 to 10 yards a part (depends on the level of fitness of your GK), 

Progression 1 (8 - 8)

GK will initiate the session by standing near to first pole, receive a volley ball from the coach, return it and shuffles across for another volley shot, He/She will perform 8 from each angle (R/L)

Progression 2 - Pivot on Angle Volleys (8 - 8)

GK will stand facing out from pole (sideways), at the coaches command he/she will pivot and receive the volley shot (8 from the R and * from the L)

Progression 3 - Compact Angle movement to Handling ( 4- 4 - 4 ) Volley, Drop kicks, ground up

Gk will initiate from the middle forward ( ahead of the poles ) and at the coach command he/she will shuffle to the angle L/R to receive the shots. ( coach will be lateral serving from the GK )

Screen 3 (10 mins)

Recovery movements & Angles shot stopping - Angle Pivot to handling - 15 min

Organization

the same as the previous one, with 2 markers been add as the diagram above

Instruction details  ( 2 - 2 - 2)

Set the poles about 10 yards away from each other (depends on the age and fitness of the GKs)

GK will start from the poles, at the coach command he/she will step to the first marker, pivot back and save the shot , return the ball and move quickly to the second marker, and adjust to receive a second shot (ground to dive)
