Fun Warm Up (5 mins)

Fun Warm Up;

Server throws and blue player heads at goal. Red player has to block with body (no hands)

If blue scores the next blue attacks and so on. If red blocks then the reds attack and the blue player who missed has to go in goal.

Keep score!!!!

Warm Up Progression (15 mins)

Position Specific Session

Crossing/Finishing (Critical Attacking) vrs Defending Crosses/Shots(Critical defending)

Fun Warm Up 15 Minutes duration

Reds attack first and cross the ball from the mannequin for the attacker to head in to the goal. One point for each goal scored.

Blues will position themselves either side of the goal and try to catch any shot. If they catch the shot before it bounces then reds will have a point deducted.

Reds will work for 90 seconds and then blue.

Focus on the technique of the cross, the movement in the box, the technique of finish and GK information.

Block 1 - Headers

Block 2 - Volleys

Once you have completed from one side then work the other.

Position Specific Training

Working on attacking principles;

1v1 attacking in wide areas to progress to 2v1.

1v1 attacking crossess centrally, then recover to receive and attack 1v1 centrally progress 2v1 or 1v2

Defending principles;

FB defending 1v1 and 1v2

CB defending 1v1 and 1v2

Play starts when player 1 passes to player 2 in zone 1. Player 2 attacks player A and then crosses for central striker to attack.

When the ball is then dead, play starts in Zone 2 when player 1 passes to player 2. He attacks player A and tries to score before returning to his position.

When the ball is dead, the same happens in Zone 3.

This repeats with players A and B rotating and taking turns as the defender and player 1 & 2 taking turns attacking. Once each player has defended twice each the teams swap over.

Now we add in the 2v1 in all areas to really challenge the defenders.

Really important GK shape from crosses and start positions.

Small Sided Game (25 mins)

Position Specific

Small Sided Game 4x5 minutes

Focus on all the elements used in the first few practices. The pitch will be wider than it is long to ensure there is enough space for 1v1's in wide areas and crosses. There will be a lot of transitions, so managing the work load, quality and position specifics are really important.
