Activity 1

Organization:

  • 2v2+1 
  • 1 mini goal on each end 
  • Approx 20x25 (30x25) yards for field 
  • Build out line as the half 

Instructions:

  • Looking to use the width of the field with the two players playing out wide (on offense) and the neutral player as a central mid. The condition is to play to both sides before scoring and without losing possession of the ball as well. 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Looking to maintain the width of the field 
  • Checking shoulders to identify spatial awareness 
  • When are we making the runs and where? 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P : No build out line 
  • R : 3v2 w/ condition of playing both sides before scoring is taken away

Activity 2

Organization:

  • 5v5 (w/ goalie) 
  • 1 big goal for the defending team 
  • 2 mini goals on the attacking teams end 

Instructions:

  • 5v4 on the field with the ball starting from the 4/5 to play to either 1 of the 3 mids. If the ball is played out on the sides, throw ins will be taken, if it goes out for a goal kick then it will restart on the offensive end from the 4/5 again. Looking to emphasize the focus on the 7/11 and their ability to use the width to create passing and dribbling lanes 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Can we reset/recycle the ball? 
  • Can we switch the point of play? 
  • Emphasis on speed of play and decision making 

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P: 6v5 (5v5 on field) 
  • R: Defense cannot pressure until receiving touch is made
