Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Individual Possession - Moves (Scissors, Inside/Outside)

Technical repetition (15 mins)

Organization: 

• Each player with soccer ball. 
  
• 4 lines, 2 channels
• blue cones in the center to dictate when to complete the move

Instructions: 

• First player in line A dribbles from red cones to opposite red cones. 
• Once they reach the blue cones in middle they will perform the given skill move (scissors or inside/outside) . 
• Once the Player A reaches the far red cones, Player B does the same going to opposite red cones.
  

Coaching Points:

• Small touches to the blue cones.
  
• Big touch and accelerate after the move.
  
• Head comes up after move
  

Progressions:

• Use weak foot

Main Activity (Fully opposed) (30 mins)

Organization:

• 30 x 20 yd area.
• Attacking player starts with ball on progression.
  
• Four gates at each corner of the grid.
  

Instructions:

• Start without soccer ball 1v1.
  
• Coach designates which team will be taggers and which team will be Flee.
  
• The fleeing team will attempt to use feints and moves to evade tagger and run through one of the two gates on opposite side.
  
• Introduce ball after 2 rounds and apply the same concepts.

Coaching Points:

• Speed of approach
  
• Timing of Feints/moves
  
• Change of speed and direction
  
• Weight of touches on approach vs weight of touch after beating defender
  

Progressions:

• Attacking player must react and attack left or right side on coach's instruction
  

Match (15 mins)

Organization:

• 2 mini goals
  
• 2 games of 3v3 or 4v4
  
• 1 Ball. All restarts with dribble in.
  

Instructions:

• Score in opposing team's goal
  

Coaching Points:

• Encourage use of skill moves
  
• Awareness of space
