Body Mechanics

1. The first player furthest from the mid-line in each channel tries to race and fake the other player (closest to the mid-line) out. The objective is to score a point in either endzone.

2. If the attacking player (furthest from mid-line) is successful at faking the defender (closest to mid-line) and enters the zone, alone, he/she gets a point.

3. But if the defender catches up to the attacker and enters the zone at the same time, he/she gets the point.

4. Roles switch after each turn.

Main Theme (10 mins)

Organization: 4 lines setup as shown, with the balls at A

Instructions:

A plays ball who B, B sets the ball back for A to play a ball into the path of C on the wing. Immediately after the pass A&B make runs into the box C takes a touch and plays a cross into the path of A/B. Sequence is now repeated with D now being played in down the wing.

Rotation is A-B-C/D-A

Coaching Points:

-Weight and Direction of Pass into the the flank area

-Player on the wing must drive down the wing at speed

-

Timing of the runs- How must we delay our runs to be able to provide us with an angle to attack the cutback ball? Communication amongst the 2 runners as well as the visual cues.

Direction of runs - cross over. 1. Front post near 2. Back post deep

If the player is driving to the line, the runs must be held and allowed to not be too deep into the boss and unable to make a play on the ball.

Visual Cues must be observed by the runners to time their runs, when the player has head up the visual connection has been made, once their head goes down the ball is about to be played.

Delivery quality and placement- crosser must recognize where the ball must be played to allow the runners to be able to make a a play on the ballwhile eliminating the keepers ability to make a save on the ball

Progressions:

Progression- Have a trailing player at C/D provide passive pressure

Progression- Add in a central defender

Regression: Have B receive ball from A and play C into space on the wing
