MINEFIELD
MINEFIELD
SET-UP:
Create two safe areas designated on each side of the field (designated by the two red coned rectangles). Drop several cones between the safe areas (these are the 'MINES').
ACTIVITY:
Variation ONE:
All players together start from one of the safe areas. They must dribble across to the other safe area as they try to avoid the 'mines'. If a player touches a 'mine' coach can yell 'BOOM!' and the player must put together their 'blown up ball' by doing 5 toe touches. They can then continue to dribble to their desired safe area. Do this a few times so they understand the game.
Variation TWO:
divide the group into TWO teams. Teams will start across from each other (each in their OWN safe zone). Two at a time, players will dribble across to the opposite safe zone. Team that gets both of their players across first, get a point for their team. (Same rules apply as above if the player 'hits' a MINE). Team that gets to 10 points first, wins the game.
COACHING POINTS:
Keep the ball CLOSE to stay in control of it.
Use multiple foot surfaces to 'steer' your ball. (Inside, outside, bottom, etc).
HEAD UP! to see where you are going.
