A session for mixed ages and abilities focussing on first touch, awareness and communication in a 1v1, pair and multi-directional game.

Organisation:
- 50x30yrd area.
- 20 players (mixed ability) split into two teams.
- 4 goals/gates placed in corners of area.
- 1 football. Additonal ball to be placed around the outside of area to keep the game flowing.
Objectives:
- Each team has to attack and defend two goals. e.g. one team will attack the red line goals and defend the green line goals and visa-versa for the other team.
- The score will be kept during this multi-directional game.
- To be a fast paced game which challenges the players awareness, touch and communication.
Coaching Points:
- First touch into space.
- Communication &
- Awareness of teammates and opposition.
Progression / Areas for Consideration:
- Due to the session being for a mixed ability group, teams will need to be as fair as possible and interventions may be placed on stronger players e.g. using a weaker foot and number of touches.
- Playing area and teams may be split into two dependant on flow and outcomes of game.

Warm-up / Gates (10 mins)
Organisation:
- 50x30yrd area.
- 20 players (mixed ability).
- 20 cones (10 gates).
- 10 footballs.
Objectives:
- Control & Touch - In pairs, pass the ball to each other between the gates. Each player will have to dribble individually to the gates to improve thier dribbling/control.
- Awareness - Whilst the exercise is ongoing players will have to get into groups quickly depending on what number is called out by the coach. This is to build awareness, communication and reaction time.
Coaching Points:
- Direction and weight of touch.
- Communication &
- Awareness.
Progression 1:
- Next, pairs will be in competition to complete as many passes through the gates with thier partner in 45 seconds.
Progression 2:
- Pairs will continue to pass and move navigating thier ball through the gates.
- When the word "GO" is shouted they will try to steal the ball from thier partner and dribble through as many gates as possible in 30 seconds.
- This progression will be a 1v1 competion where individual will keep a score against thier partner.
- When the word "STOP" is shouted they will return to passing and moving as a team.
