Block 1

Block 1

The CBs will initiate play by passing to the number 6, who adjusts their position to create a receiving angle. Upon receiving on their back foot, the 6 will pass to the central midfielder (8) before setting up to receive it back. The 6 then plays a first-time pass to the right winger (7), who controls the ball on their back foot and delivers a cross into the box.

In the first phase, players will have the freedom to vary their types of crosses, allowing the striker, left winger (11), and central midfielders (8s) to attack different deliveries.

If the goalkeeper makes a save or catches the ball, they will look to distribute it into one of the mini goals. Once the ball has been played to the right winger, all players reset, and the same pattern is repeated on the left side.

  • Players whom haven't received the ball upon delivery of the Wide player will also be fed a 2nd Ball to ensure repetition for players

Block 2

The CBs will start play by passing to the central midfielder (6), who receives on their back foot before playing into the central midfielder (8). The 8 will receive on the half-turn, scanning for options. At this point, the wingers are instructed to make an out-to-in run, exploiting space behind the full-back to deliver crosses from the byline.

The striker (9) must time their movement into the box, attacking either the front post or the penalty spot. The right winger should arrive at the back post, while the central midfielders (8s) position themselves in pockets of space around the edge of the 18-yard box to capitalize on second balls.

If the goalkeeper catches or saves the ball, they will attempt to distribute into one of the mini goals. After completing the pattern on the left side (11), players reset and repeat the sequence with the right winger (7).

The session will now incorporate live defenders CB and FB, with the opposition's back four actively engaging in 1v1 duels against the wingers and protecting the penalty area. If the defenders regain possession, they have six seconds to transition and score in the mini goals.

Attacking players have the flexibility to combine in different ways to get the wingers into dangerous wide positions. The striker (9) plays a crucial role by occupying the centre-backs, using movement to create space and capitalise on goal-scoring opportunities.

If the initial attack breaks down, the assistant coach will quickly reintroduce a new ball to allow the winger another opportunity to deliver a cross. Once the play is completed, players reset and execute the sequence on the opposite flank.
