SKILL (A) - Hitting the Striker
After the technical, can we think about which players are likely to be hitting the clipped passes? (GK, defenders, central midfield players) and who in the pro game does it well? Can we think about recipients to feet (strikers - target men) and who in the pro game does it well?
*REGRESSIONS - more passive defending/bigger distance between defender and recipient
*PROGRESSIONS - limit to two touch, or first time clipped pass, play diagonally!

TECHNICAL (10 mins)
AIM of the session - develop clipped pass into striker's feet; or into channel/over the defence
Organisation/Setup
- 30x30m box marked with white cones
- 'End zone' at each end; further 10m beyond the white box (marked with red cones)
- 12 players; split into 3x4players bibbed red/blue/black
- One ball between each group to start with
TECHNICALAim to develop the clipped pass.
- Imagine we are the red team. The player on the left side striking the ball starts, clipping a pass into their teammate on the opposite side, and follows their pass
- Recipient gets the ball down, plays back into the feeder who sets them, and they repeat the action
- *DEMONSTRATION TO START*
- Given that players are seeing plenty of the ball, 5-10 mins here should suffice before transition to skill
Concentrate here on the mechanics of the clipped pass - body position, long backswing and short/stab/clipped follow through, promoting loft and backspin.
