Effective Transition in the final third
Session concentrating on how to attack effectively after winning the ball back in final third of the pitch.

Game Related Practise
Organisation - 30x40yd area - Three 4 minute games
6v6 plus one goalkeeper. Team in blue strat with the ball, they score one point every six passes. When the whites win possession they must have an attempt on goal either a) within 4 passes OR b) Within 10 seconds of receiving possession. The game always starts with the team keeping possession. Rotate teams.

Change condition on attacking team

- high pressure on the ball
- forward pass upon winning possession if possible
- secondary movement of attacking team
- identification of aggressive pressing triggers (aerial pass, heavy touch, ball on touchline)

Game Related Practise
Organisation
Maroon line up 1-4-2, whites 2-3-1. Practise starts with maroon playing out to central defender then onto fullback. Whites press as normal. 11 or 7 takes possession from fullback (who makes run around cone and back into practise. White team try to get an attempt on goal as quickly as possible.

Alternate attacks from right and left side

Coaching Points
If able to play forward
Number 9
- drift away from central defender (on inside) to receive pass from wide player and move between central defenders to attempt on goal
- if central defenders get in narrow quickly, 9 goes on outside (shoulder of CH) to receive pass from 10 (or 7)
Numbers 10, 7, 11
- If central defenders in quickly and 9 moved up onto shoulder, 10 looks to receive on half turn and create 3v2 against central defenders
- 7 (or 11) to make diagonal run between central defenders when 10 in possession
- 7 (or 11) to make run on the shoulder of central defender if no space for diagonal run
- speed of attack and penetrating runs forward
If unable to play forward
- depth from 6 or 8, open body for quick switch of play
- depth from 6 or 8 then penetrating pass to 10 or 9

Organisation
Same set up as previous practise except mini goals in for maroons to score and no receovery runs for fullbacks. ball starts from goalkeeper. Whites attempt to win bacll back and score.

Teams play 1-2-3-1 against each other. Free play. Maintain high tempo but minimal stoppages.

Organisation - (two 30x30yd boxes) - Three 4 minute games
6v3(+3). Players in blue start with the ball and attempt to keep possession from three whites. When whites win the ball back, they transfer the ball to white players in opposite box and support, three blues go to defend and game continues. Six passes for one point.

An extra defender can enter area every point scored
