2v2 Tournament
2v2 Tournament:
Obj: Improve attackers ability to unbalance opposition in 2v2 scenarios/improve defenders ability to work together/stay organized to prevent progression/win the ball back in 2v2 scenarios.
Timing: 1.5 Min - 2 Min Games
Set Up: Grids are set up 15 y x 20 y with 5 yard endzones at the end.
Scoring/Rules: Players work in pairs for the duration of the competition. The top grid plays to two big goals with goalkeepers on a 25 y (l) x 20 y (w) pitch. Other grids play to endzones where they get 1 point for dribbling into the endzone in the wide areas or playing a runner into the endzone. They get two points for going through the central gate. Runners cannot be already standing in endzone - it acts as offside line. If ball goes out of bounds on red, blue restarts from the side the ball goes out on.
Coaching Pts: Attackers - movement to create space/unbalance opponent. Aggressive in movement/actions on the ball. Reading space (is it on to dribble or pass, is there space that needs to be created in order to get in behind). Defenders - pressure/cover, communication to stay organized when opposition starts to be creative in movement, moments to stop progression versus win the ball, gaining ground on backwards pass.
