Set up
-10-12 players
-half field
-4 cones, box in the middle 6x6 yards.
-coach on the side with a bunch of balls
Drill
-keeping possesion outside the area and score a goal by passing the ball into the target player inside the box
-switch target player every 3-5 minutes
-if you score you keep possession, target player passes the ball out to same team.

-lots of movement off the ball
-encourage overlapping runs
-communiations
-quick movement to support your teammates
-quality passing
-head up to find space and teammates

Warm up overlapping run (15 mins)
Set up
-4 cones
-6-8 players per grid
-10x15 yards ( adjust as per ability and age)
-1 ball to start
Drill
-Player 1 starts with the ball and makes a pass across to player 2
-Player 1 makes and overlapping run around player 2
-Player 2 makes a short pass to Player 1, player 1 controls it , dribbles a bit and then makes a pass to Player 3
-after the pass Player 1 continues his run and should end up behind line of Player 4
-Player 2 continues his run and ends up behind line of Player 3
- Same sequence happens with players 3 and 4
-Player 3 receives the ball and makes a pass across to player 4
-Player 3 makes and overlapping run around player 4
-Player 4 makes a short pass to Player 3, player 3 controls it , dribbles a bit and then makes a pass to Player 1
-after the pass Player 3 continues his run and should end up behind line of Player 2
-Player 4 continues his run and ends up behind line of Player 1
Progression
-change direction go the other way working on the left foot
-use 2 balls.
Variation 2
- same set up as above, but the player 2 receiving the ball dribbles across and fakes to make a pass to the player 1 making the overlapping and take the ball himself to player 3. Movement is the same -Player 1 continues his run and should end up behind line of Player 4
-Player 2 continues his run and ends up behind line of Player 3

-receiving using the inside of the foot
-sharp overlapping runs
-communication- demand the ball when making the overlapping run
