3v3 switch the play

Organization

  • 30x20 split into 2 grids 
  • teams split into 3 different colors
  • pug goals
  • spare balls

Instructions

1. teams of 3 are locked in their third and must attempt to transfer the ball to the opposite third

2. team in the middle third are the defensive team attempt to intercept and regain possession of the ball

3. if attacking team makes a bad pass or it gets intercepted then they becoming the defensive team in the middle 

Coaching Points

-team shape 

-create width and depth to 1st attacker 

-body shape to receive

-see the ball and where you want to take the ball

-scan the field before receiving the ball 

-recognize switch of play (strong side vs weak side)

-break the lines 

-option 1 maintain possession

-option 2 play around the defense

-option 3 penetrating pass 

-speed of play
