Problem 1: Opponent wings press when ball goes wide, denying play forward
Solution 1: Find the 6 to switch the field to the spare man and play forward
- 10 presses the 6 - find the 10 or opposite 6 to switch
- 11 presses denying switch - 2 plays forward directly
- 2 can't switch with CM or CB - find GK or play over opposition to 3
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progressions:
- Condition IP team they must switch to score
- Touch restriction on IP team
Regressions:
- Condition opponent wingers to stay within width of the 18 until wide players touch the ball to provide more space to FBs
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
Challenges:
- Can the OOP team deny the FBs scoring on the mini-goals
- Can the IP team switch the play using the 6 to find the spare player in space
- Can the OOP 7/11 force the FBs to play backward
- Can the opposite FB receive above the opposition winger
Conditions
- OOP team has 10 seconds to score if they win the ball
- IP team must connect with the FB first
Targets
- IP team: mini goals =1. Mini goal after switch (both wide channels) = 3
- OOP team: large goal

Problem 2: Opponent wings press and 9 drops in to deny switch central
Solution 2: CB drop off to create angle, switch the field through the CBs to find the spare man and play forward
- 9 cuts off pass from CB to CB - use the GK or 6 to play around the 9
- 7 stays wide and denies pass to opposite FB - find the spare man in the midfield to play forward
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progressions:
- Condition IP team they must switch to score
- Touch restriction on IP team
Regressions:
- Condition opponent wingers to stay within width of the 18 until wide players touch the ball to provide more space to FBs
