Stage 1: Overlap & Wall Pass
Duration: 15 min. Intensity: Med (5:1)
Reps: 15-20
Objective: Develop combination play in the attacking 1/3 - Overlapping runs & wall passes
Set Up: Player A passes to Player B who takes a penetrating touch and dribbles towards dummy opponent. Player A communicates with B (Hold) and overlaps. B plays to A and A controls on the run and plays to C. B & A take the place of C and C & D repeat in the opposite direction.
CP: Communication, force defender to commit, timing, quality of passes

Rhondo's (15 min)
Set Up: 10 v 2, 10 x 10 grid, 10 orange/2 blue penny's
Quick posession game, First pass is free, Attacker connect as many passes as possible. Defender's win the ball 3 times to switch out. Attacker's take a point back for each 10 consecutitive connected passes. Variation: Point for splitting defenders.
CP: Player movement to receive the ball, Simple passes to keep posession, Support to keep posession, switch play to open space, Split defenders

Four Corner Possession Game (15 min)
4 vs 4 + 2 with 4 neutral targets, 4 attacking players try to keep possession against 4 defenders with the help of 2 neutral players and 4 targets, Team scores a point for 7 consecutive passes without losing possession or by connecting one pass to each neutral target players, Play 3 x 4 minute games rotating neutrals and target players each round
Variation - Team scores a point by passing to any of the 4 target players who then return it to the attacking team with 3 or less touches
COACHING POINTS Passing and receiving technique, Movement off the ball (proper angles of support), Early support (before the player is under pressure), Composure on the ball
Awareness by players off the ball (proper spacing), Communication by all

Instructions:
Set Up A:
- Player 1 can only pass the ball through the cones
- Player 2 can only pass the ball outside of the cones
Set Up B:
- Players exchange passes through the 3 gates but cannot play through the same gate consecutively
Coaching Points:
- Keep ball moving with 1st touch
- Experiment with using inside/outside surface to control ball
- Consider body position when using different surfaces to control
- Prepare the ball in as fewer touches as possible
- Quality of pass
Progressions:
- 2 touch only
- Play pass with outside surface (encourage disguise)
