First Touch - Channel - Semi Opposed

Organization:

10x15, 4 Groups running at the same time

Instructions:

Players work in 3's, 1 playera on each line, Player A play to Player B who has checked to one of the cones who then passes to Player C.

When Player C receives they must take their 1st touch the opposite way to defender who moves across to block lane. Player C perfroms V-move and dribbles to end line. All players move down 1 line.

Coaching Points:

- Receiving Player

- On toes (be prepared)

- Move in line with ball

- Communication

- Head up as ball travels

- 1st touch to beat defender (make sure head comes up)

Passing player -

- Eye Contact before pass

- Quality of pass (weight and accuracy)

Organization:

10x15, 4 Groups running at the same time

Instructions:

-Players work in 3's, 1 player on each line, Player A play to Player B who has checked to one of the cones who then passes to Player C.

-When Player C receives the game becomes live. Player B must try to win the ball in the shaded area (area 1) .

-If player C beats player B and enters area 2; player A can then begin to defend (player A must wait for player C to enter area 2 before they may leave line as player is shown and can only defend in area 2).

- Player C get 1 pt for getting into area 2, additional 2 pts for scoring in PUG.

Coaching Points:

- Receiving Player

- On toes (be prepared)

- Move in line with ball

- Communication

- Head up as ball travels

- 1st touch to beat defender (make sure head comes up)

- Quality of V or COD of choice

Passing player -

Instructions:

1. Player C passes to Player A and presses on Player A 1st touch.

2. Player B makes angle to receive and play a give and go with Player A.

3. Player A and B play against Player D semi opposed.

4. Rotation - The Att player who crosses the end line turns dribble back to the middle play begin pattern/The other Att player Becomes the top player.

5. The Two defender jog around the outside to the begining while the other two player waiting become the attackers.

Coaching Points:

1. 1st touch out of feet to make passing lane, then turn back inside towards player and play outside foot.

2. Draw defender in to create space behind the defender.

3. Play outside of foot (closest to the support player) after cutting back towards support player.

4. Supporting player makes angle to support and recieve on back foot. (makes distance shorter for combo).

5. Cue to move for the supporting player is soon as the ball travels.

5. Quality of passing give and go.

6. Head up after give and go to see next action.

7. Decision; Use Give and Go or use support as a decoy.

Give and go-Opposed

Organization:

1. 3 teams of two players.

2. Same area size as the last practices.

Instructions:

- Attackers work together to combine to get the ball from the start line to the goal.

- Defenders cannot leave there zone and do not become active until 1st touch has happened in there area.

- If defenders win the ball they have to counter attack an dribble over the end line.

- Soon as play has ended Attackers become Defenders, Defenders rest and Resting team become Attackers.

Coaching Points:

1. 1st touch out of feet head up.

2. Draw defender in to commit.

3. Play outside of foot (closest to the support player)

4. Supporting player makes angle to support and recieve on back foot. (makes distance shorter for combo).

5. Quality of passing give and go.

6. Head up after give and go to see next action.

7. Attack space or defender depending where the defender is positioned.

8. Timing of runs in the 2nd zone (2 point zone) to prevent being offside.

Progressions:

- Keep score. First to 5 wins

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

1.50 x 30 yard area with halfway line shown by markers, set up as shown

2.2 teams of 4 players (plus GK’s), with 2 floating players (play makers)

3.1 ball (additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1.Teams play 4v4+2, the floating players play for the team in possession

2.Each floating player is assigned one half of the field to operate in

3.Floating players can score

4.Normal restart rules apply

Coaching Points:

1.1st Attacker to commit defender to the ball

2.2nd Attacker to offer support

3.Angle and distance of 2nd attacker

4.Decision making of each player

5.Speed of play

6.Teach the floating player to keep finding the ball

Progressions:

P – Reduce players to two touches

R – Allow floating players to operate all over the field
